Potty training

Here are some pics of Mattie cakes ---

He is so cute these days. He started potty training at 6 months and he is doin so well!! He likes to look around in the bathroom. I totally would recommend every new Mom to read Diaper Free Baby. It totally makes sense to me and works for us. But then again, we do have a super cool baby.

We went to Texas with Peter for his conference. Unfortunately it rained the entire weekend. We did get to eat dinner together every night. During the day, Mattie and I visited the Science Museum that featured Star Wars exhibit and we saw an IMAX show on making movies. We also saw a cow girl museum and a cow boy museum. Because of the bad weather, Mattie did not get a chance to see a real cowboy in action.

I am getting old

My New York age is 45

This New York age puts you-generally speaking-into the old-age category. Don't worry-this isn't a bad NYC age to be. Your tastes are more refined and developed, and people have always told you that you're mature for your age anyway, right? Still, you may want to see more live music (check out Studio B) and should probably visit Superdeluxe.com. Olde English is funny at any age.

Does your age reflect how you're living? Let us know.

Oh, Baby!

7 Ways a Baby Will Change Your Life the First Year - Bettie B. Youngs, Susan M. Heim, Jennifer L. Youngs

7 key areas of life—may surprise you:

  • Love: A new baby will introduce you to the deepest, purest love you’ll ever know, but how can this also be a painful love?
  • Self: Having a child “completes you” and makes you a better person, but in what ways will it also challenge your sense of “self”?
  • Marriage: Baby’s first year of life exerts many pressures on a marriage. How can you and your partner work toward moving the pendulum from confinement, confusion and chaos back to fun, reward and growth?
  • Career: There are so many decisions to be made. Will you be able to balance all of the responsibilities that go along with making a living and raising a child—and do them both successfully?
  • Spiritual Life: The miracle of new life can be spiritually awakening, but in what ways can it also test your faith?
  • Friends: Friendships come and go throughout your life—but especially when a new baby arrives. How does having a baby attract—but also alienate!—friends?
  • Extended Family: Having a baby is a “family affair” that impacts—both positively and negatively—your relationships with parents, in-laws and siblings. Is family harmony possible?

This book gives you new perspective of being a new parent. There are lots of discussion questions and "Take Action" items to help new parents to think of parenting issues. It is a quick read so it's easy to finish with a new baby!

Most people think they know what it's like to have love in their lives -- until they have a child. Then they realize that they never had this kind of love.

At Birth - Day 1

Matthew

It's been a long time since my last entry. Matthew is 4 months and 2 days old. So much has happened since his arrival.
He surprised us with an early arrival. However, being as prepared as I am, we were totally ready for him. We did have to buy more premie clothes for him, but we had everything else for him.
Despite his early delivery, he was super cute -- one of the cutest babies we have ever seen. And he just keeps getting cuter and cuter so he is officially the cutest baby we know!!
So far, he has learned to track people, cry louder when he wants something, holding clothes, make some goo goo ga ga sounds, sitting up in his Bebe Pod, laughing, smiling, and getting cuter and cuter. He is also getting fatter and fatter as the day goes on.
