Happy Thanksgiving!
Our best present was Mattie learned to pee in the toilet standing up! I think we are on our way to a potty-trained toddler!

Latest updates on my crazy life
Here are some of our latest updates:
1. We finally got our tenants out of our condo and was able to smoothly sell the unit! The tenants are still a headache -- they made a claim with their renter's insurance and continues to pester us for our address. It appears they are trying to sue us for something. My advice never rent to older ladies -- they are probably inherently full of health problems and has too much time. (Brief synopsis of the situation for those of you who do not know - they received a formaldehyde poisoning diagnosis from their doctor and claims it was our shutters. They refuse to talk to us on the phone and refused consult from the Shutter comnpany. Needless to say, we just try to move them out, but they continues to feel we endangered their health.)
2. Peter is on a medical mission in China and I am living with his uncle and aunt in Ottawa. Mattie is getting really spoiled by everyone here because he is the apple in everyone's eyes --- despite he is going through his terrible twos! Now he doesn't even bother to cry to me, he just runs to his great uncle and aunt for back up.
3. Mattie is officially off the bottles! We are working on self-feeding and potty training. He even acknowledges other Hopefully, he can be somewhat independent by the time Baby Kan comes along.
Until next time!

Another Bleeding Episode
Ok, this is getting crazy!! I started bleeding again --- with another round of ultrasound. Apparently this hematoma is just not resolving -- or at least not resolving fast. Baby is going right on par, approximately 16 weeks along. He is still going strong.
We think the root of the problem is Mattie. At 19 months, he is still sleeping with us. Unfortunately, he has pretty much kicked Peter out of the bed and he is trying to push me away too! We are going to get another bed and he will either move or we are moving out of the room. It's ridiculous, but I think his constant kicking at night is disturbing Micky's peace.

Doctors, doctors, doctors
So we had an eventful last few weeks. Mattie visited the Children's ER for the first time for a high fever 2 Sundays ago. It turned out to be an ear infection AGAIN! It was scary because he had such high fever -- 103 despite Tylenol. Then 3 days later, I started bleeding. So I freaked thinking I have a miscarriage. We visited ER at St Michaels. It turns out I had a small hemorrhage by my placenta but the baby is alive and kicking. Now I am not suppose to hold anything heavy --- meaning no carrying Mattie. Mattie isn't happy about that change.
What we thought was strange about my ER visit was that I was sent home without a diagnosis because the ultrasound dept is closed after hours. However, when I asked if they can at least Doppler the baby's heart beat, they were like, oh we have a portable ultrasound that maybe able to detect the baby. I was like, that's bring it out.. duh!! Then I had to go back the next day --- except the phone number they gave me didn't work so Peter had to go over the floor and make an appointment for me. After 3 hours I finally got an ultrasound and reeived my results from a resident. Talk about efficiency!
Now we are unsure where we wnat to deliver my second baby... seems like I would have a complicated pregnancy and the hospitals here seems to suck.

Biology Meets LIfe
So we all know how to make a baby -- it's pretty much all taught in fifth grade health class and every year after that until end of high school. When I got married, everyone told me it takes about a year to get pregnant so plan early. Obviously, it didn't take that long for us. We were experts at it from the getko. People that didn't know us from before have asked me how long did it take us. I always find it strange - I just figure you figure out when you ovulate and then just have a lot of intercourse around then if you are not certain exact day. Obviously, we did not take that approach since we figure it would be hard and we had time to wait.
Anyhow so the biology part seems very simple, but why is it so hard to raise a baby? It seems to me that they should just have the same manuel for taking care of one. I have read a lot of baby books from baby "experts." It just seems like these experts can't figure out why Mattie doesn't sleep through the night, not eat meals properly, and why does he just cry for everything. It seems like, nature should only allow people who knows how to be Mommies and Daddies to procreate.

Mattie's New Communication
As many of you know, Mattie is pretty slow at everything. He rolled late, crawled late, walked late, and as expected at 17.5 months, still no words. Even "ma ma" may be a stretch since he calls anyone that if he wants something from them.
Since I have been home with him, we started to sign more words. Before we moved here, he could only do "milk" consistently. This last week, he has been signing, "done", "more", "juice", "shoes", and today he learned "light." Everything is a little Mattiefied. Mattie can't make a fist so he uses open palm and he can't use his pinky so he uses his index finger instead.
He also learned his body parts better. We started on our car ride to Toronto. Now he knows nose, eyes, mouth, tummy, stinky feet, and hands. I think part of the problem with Mattie is he isn't very coordinated. He had a really hard time pointing to his eyes. He has to start with his nose and slowly slide it up. It's pretty funny.
Now we are trying to potty train full time again. He is right about 50% of the time. I think the problem is he tells me too early and when he sits on the toilet and nothing comes out he tells me he is done and wants to come off. So we have been trying to adjust our time. BUT he is also a tricky boy. He doesn't like nap time so he will tell me he wants milk, go to potty, read... whatever to delay the inevitable.
Well, these are Mattie's latest tricks.. stay tune for next episode of Mattie Tricks.

Toronto, Canada
We finally made it to Toronto... with our carload of stuff. Mattie did very well the whole ride. He only threw up twice because he was upset and then we had Peter sat in the back with him and then he is all good. He learned where his nose is (although if you ask him where are your eyes, he still points to his nose). We had to make multiple emergency stops due to Mattie's potty breaks --- and false alarms. Our best one was at this Nature Conservatory parking lot and outside of Red Lobster parking lot.
There was only 1 mishap... Peter got stopped by a police for speeding. I couldn't believe they gave him a ticket for going 10 miles over the speed limit on a highway. The dumb thing is the ticket was for $40 but the court fees and other fees are $65. Anyhow, Peter was bitter the whole way about that. What can I say? I am just the better driver!
Our new condo has nothing... so far we ordered a bed, bedroom set... and lots of little problems with the condo. Mattie has all his toys and a crib... which I wonder how much he will actually use. Now we are all still sleeping on the floor.
Well, that's all for now...

Moving to Toronto
It's been months since my last post. Here are some of the new changes in our lives:
1. Mattie is walking!
2. We are moving to Toronto in the end of the month.
3. We plan our move with just a Camry -- trying to sell off everything else that does not fit in our car.
4. We are going to be landlords.
5. We will try to start a budget! and be converted to Canadians!
--- and most importantly, today is my 2 year wedding anniversary! Happy anniversary to us!
Hope everyone can visit us in Toronto next year!

New Year
Mattie celebrated his first Christmas and New Year!! We spent Christmas at home. Peter came home from rounding pretty early in the morning and we opened presents together. Mattie got lots of new toys, books, and clothes. The funniest moment was when he opened his new Elmo car wheel -- he broke the wrapping in the middle and it started to sing. Mattie started to cry because it was loud and scary. It took him a few days before the toy grew on him. He also got a few new trains for his train set. He loves his new tub toys too. He got these squirt toys from his Godmother.
Mattie spent his first new year under the fire works in Las Vegas! He had so much fun at FAO Swartz with the slides and cars. Then we went to see the Dolphins at Mirage! He loves the aquarium. We took him to a lot of different hotels and walked around the stores.
